Chile: new National Parks in Patagonia
Chile declared immense parts of Patagonia a National Park, based mainly on the donation of the Tompkins Conservation. The chain of National Parks reaches the southern tip of the country at Cap Horn.
Almost at the same time, Chile declared 720.000 square kilometer of sea to be a Marine Protected area. Commercial fishing is now prohibited in areas like the Easter Islands.
