Description: This expedition is designed as a ten days training course culminating with a summit climb on Mt. Friendship. Not only do you train in one of the most ideal locations for snow, glacier and ice climbing, but you also attempt the summit of the Peak. Our guides give you in-depth and comprehensive instruction and allow you to progress at your own rate. On summit day we have a 4 :1 climber-to-guide ratio. Some of the topic covered: climbing equipment, route finding and navigation, glacier travel, climbing protection, crevasse rescue, and steep snow and ice climbing (if conditions permit). This is truly a one-of-a-kind course.

About the Peak: Mt.Friendship lies in the Beas Kund region, an alpine area near Manali where Lower Himalayan Ranges of Dhauladhar and Pin Panjal meet. Friendship peak is one of the finest in the Kullu Valley. The South face is concealed by Friendship’s Gigantic Rock face until you are directly beneath it. The setting and ambience is superb with rock and ice falls across the Valley providing endless entertainment. Friendship Peaks impressive South face is another 1km up the Solang Valley and offers the true routes to the summit.

Course objectives:

  • Increasing technical knowledge/skills in all aspects of snow and alpine climbing including: glacier travel, rope/belay techniques, crevasse rescue, route finding, self-arrest, rappelling, …
  • Developing educated, self-reliant climbers with the ability to evaluate subjective/objective hazards including: rock fall, glacier conditions, gear evaluations, critical decision-making, group experience, white-out conditions, wilderness navigation and weather conditions

Climbing itinerary:
Day 1: Manali / Solang (drive) Solang / Dhundi (Drive + Trek) (2800 Mts.)
Day 2: Dhundi / Nouli (3500 Mts.)
Day 3 – 6: Nouli / Lady leg (Base camp) (3750 Mts) (Climbing training)
Day 7: Base camp (Free day )
Day 8: Base camp / ABC (4200 Mts.)
Day 9: ABC / Summit attempt / Base camp
Day 10: Base Camp /Dhundi and Drive to Manali

Length of the trip: 10 days

Costs: price per person is 810 € (group of two);

Included in the price are: all transports from Manali and back; all meals (lunch, dinner and breakfast) during the expedition; mountain guide (are certified and experienced and speak english) and other staff; camping and climbing gear (tents, sleeping bags and sleeping mats, stoves, first aid, ropes, ice axes, crampons).
